"Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” – Luke 11: 11-12
Fish: Egg = Snake: Scorpion - Heaven # Earth = Hell
Often in our lives, we are disheartened because many of our prayers go unanswered. We complain to GOD on many a things did not happen as you wish.
Luke 11:9 – 10 says “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” This is Jesus’s assurance for our prayers
Why then, your prayers are unanswered?
Jesus Christ, when his disciples where in a dilemma on how to pray, taught a beautiful prayer. And we recite this prayer during the Holy Mass and daily prayers. This prayer is an integral part of all Christians’ life.
Luke 11: 1- 4 “And he said unto them, when ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.”
How should we pray then? Are we supposed to insist God on things to happen in your way?
The Word of God says to pray for His kingdom to come, His will to be done, as in heaven. So, heaven works as per His plan. And he wants us, as God’s children to pray the same way, for our journey should also end nowhere else, but in Heaven. When we seek for His will on earth, we bring His Kingdom, the ‘Heaven’ to Earth.
Heaven to Earth!! How can this transition happen?
A child is so tempted to touch fire because of its glittery, shiny appearance. But he never knows that it will burn and hurt his skin. But, when his mother sees this she makes sure to keep the child away from fire.
Our Heavenly Father also acts the same way. We ask him for many things. We are so much into this world and we keep on asking. But He is just concerned about our soul. So, sometimes when we ask we don’t receive. We knock and we don’t find the door opened! Because He knows, and He is the only ONE who knows that what is good for you, and what is not. If he finds that granting all your wishes, answering all your prayers will end-up in you forgetting His ways, he will not grant it. For he knows that whatever appeared as ‘Fish’ for you is not FISH but snake, and it may harm you, your SOUL. For, He knows that you asked for ‘Egg’ but the EGG may later turn to a SCORPION. And this will harm you, your SOUL in the long run.
And He will lose you in His Valley of Love, for it is not His will that you seek for, for you are not willing to have from His Desk.
So what is Heaven? It is the union of the Holy Trinity - our Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ who is our Saviour, and His soul the Holy Spirit.
When Jesus ascended into heaven, after crucifixion and resurrection he send us a promise. And the promise was none, but the Holy Spirit.
So what are supposed to ask for?
Just ask for His spirit, the HOLY SPIRIT, as it is the promise of GOD. And He Himself says,” How much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”
